A Bit About Us

Some people can transition back into their own environment after treatment, however, most people regard treatment centres as only the first step into their recovery. Learning to maintain a sober lifestyle takes time and can be very uncomfortable, isolating and fearful. Residing in a sober living house allows an individual to ease into a new lifestyle. This would involve building addiction-free habits and routines all of which can be transferred to daily life within the local community once a person is ready to undertake this on their own. Studies have found that residents who spend time in a sober living home within their own community are more likely to achieve long-term recovery as they are less likely to relapse back into addictive behaviours.

More about the house

Supported accommodation facility for males in recovery offering four private bedrooms along with communal lounge, kitchen and bathroom. Plus an enclosed rear garden.

Formal Treatment

The difference provided by Healics Recovery

Formal treatment programmes are structured, and people become accustomed to living life within this structure. In many rehab facilities each day is planned out from morning to night. This is in part to minimise stress and uncertainty, so residents can focus on their recovery.

Equally, the group treatment programmes within the community can also be difficult as people often attend them from unsupportive environments daily and then return home. This can be isolating, and stressful as other members of their family do not understand about addiction and are unable to help them or may even be using substances themselves.

As we know when an individuals return to their previous home environment, they can no longer rely on someone else to maintain a sense of structure for them and they must now do it alone.  It is easy to become overwhelmed as they begin to re-enter the world from a sober place. This is the most stressful time for a recovering addict and it would be easy for anyone to consider turning back to drugs or alcohol again to relieve the uncomfortable emotions and feelings which still arise in early sober living.

A sober living house can provide structure for residents to develop and grow whilst balancing this with independence. This gives maximum support for individuals to ease back into their community and continue with their new sober lifestyle.
